Bathroom Remodeling

After successfully remodeling this family’s master bathroom several years ago, they asked us to come back to help them with another project they wanted to complete.

In preparation to create a home where they could age in place, they wanted to convert a first-floor home office into a bedroom. They also wanted that new bedroom to have its own bathroom.

The conversion of the office into a bedroom would be easy. The design challenge would be finding space adjacent to the bedroom for the bathroom. Our solution was to convert the existing laundry room and half bath on the other side of an adjoining wall into a new full bathroom with a walk-in shower. We would also switch from a free-standing washer and dryer to a stackable washer and dryer to save space. To access the new bathroom from the bedroom we installed a pocket door saving even more space. Lastly, all the floor heights were made the same so that there would not be any floor level changes going in and out of the rooms. Even the new shower area was designed without a threshold to easy access via a wheelchair if ever needed.

The home will now be ready for any future accessibility needs for the owners, and they can now age in place with ease.
