From Overwhelm to Finished, Functional and Refreshed

Haddon Township, NJ

This family wanted to enhance their home’s functionality and aesthetics. Their primary goals included expanding the kitchen, relocating the laundry to the main floor, and creating a primary suite on the second floor. The project also aimed to optimize space and minimize unnecessary costs by rethinking the existing room layouts.

Initial Challenges:
Initially, they engaged with an architect years ago, but the complexity and scale of the initial plans were overwhelming, leading them to repeatedly delay the project. Upon reaching out to our team, we quickly understood their vision and explored innovative solutions to meet their needs without excessive expansion.

Design and Planning:
During our first appointment, we identified opportunities to reconfigure existing spaces, thereby minimizing the size of the new addition. Key changes included swapping the existing family room and dining room, which provided a more efficient layout for the new kitchen and adjacent spaces.

Key Elements of the Remodel:

Kitchen Expansion
Relocated to form a spacious “L” shape with an oversized island, creating a functional and stylish central hub for the home. The new kitchen seamlessly connects to the newly positioned dining room.

Main Floor Laundry
A new laundry area was created off the kitchen, moving it from the basement to the main floor for added convenience.

Primary Suite Creation
The second floor was redesigned to include a new primary suite, complete with ample closet space and an en-suite bathroom. This was achieved by adding a second story over the new kitchen area.

Preservation of Character
T
he Keoughs’ preference for a sleek, timeless style was incorporated into the new design, ensuring harmony between the addition and the original home. Original character details, such as trim and interior doors, were preserved or duplicated to maintain the home’s charm.

Execution and Completion:
Our award-winning Remodeling Designer, Kelsey Glenn, presented the family with a revised plan that aligned perfectly with their vision. From the initial consultation to the project’s completion, including the zoning approval process, the entire remodeling was accomplished in less than a year. The remodel successfully transformed their home, enhancing its functionality, aesthetic appeal, and overall value. By rethinking existing spaces and carefully planning the addition, we delivered a project that met the family’s needs while preserving the home’s original charm and character.

Our experience with Cipriani was great, from start to finish! Our designer, Kelsey, helped us think out of the box to get the most out of our space. She led us through the process of choosing our finishes, making the experience so pleasant and less confusing, while keeping an eye on our bottom line 🙂 The construction team, headed by our manager, Jim, was wonderful in making sure that the project was moving forward, and communicated that progress to us on a regular basis. Their extensive prep for the job enabled us to function within the house, and kept dust and debris to a minimum. All of our neighbors appreciated the tidiness of the job site and the workers’ professional demeanors. The addition is amazing – the attention to detail that the carpenters and other tradespeople took made for a very finished, upscale look that we are completely satisfied with. Even with some small change orders in the course of the project, they finished a week or so early and cleaned every inch on their way out. We would highly recommend Cipriani!
