In the last year, the COVID-19 pandemic had us sheltered in and working from home. We spent more time with family, and we spent more time indoors. This led to all of us reexamining the spaces in our homes. And the bathroom is no exception.
Because they are the most-used rooms in your home, bathrooms not only need to be beautiful but they must also be built to last. If your bathroom is old and tired and just needs a fresh modern update, take a look at some of the latest trends for bathrooms in 2021.

Space-savvy soaking tubs
According to a 2020 survey from Houzz, 41 percent of homeowners said they use their bathrooms for rest and relaxation, and 54 percent saying a soaking tub helps them relax.
Though tubs are now less popular when it comes to bathroom layouts, they are not extinct. Instead, they are smaller-sized baths that fit into smaller spaces. Many times elegant tubs are being used as a focal point in a room, as well as for a relaxing bath.

Back-lit mirrors and/or medicine cabinets
According to the same Houzz survey mentioned earlier, renovating homeowners are increasingly lighting up bathroom mirrors, with 20% installing LED lights, up from 14% in 2019.
Lighting up your bathroom mirrors is a great idea because they provide ambient lighting for your bathroom space and can also be utilized when you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night (but you don’t want the harsh bathroom light to wake you up.)

Large-format wall tiles in showers
What was once a common design for hotels has now become a common practice in residential homes. These large tiles are being featured in showers and bathrooms in general.
The benefits of this design are that it reduces the number of grout lines and creates a smooth look for your new bathroom space.

Smart Mirrors
Who wouldn’t want to wake up in the morning, start their day, and check the weather on their bathroom mirror? With a smart mirror, that dream can be a reality.
The ability to display useful information without having to open apps or do any extra work makes the smart mirror such a wonderful convenience.

Floating vanities
The number one benefit of a floating vanity is that it can make your small bathroom feel bigger. Floating your vanity means the flooring can extend all the way to the wall, which instantly makes a bathroom appear more spacious. And a wall-hung vanity creates more usable space for stashing pieces like a wastebasket or a scale. A little foot room under the sink goes a long way.
Another benefit of this contemporary trend is that wall-hung vanities look so clean and modern. And they are efficient when it comes to storage for tighter spaces.

Quartz countertops
In a recent report from the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association, 74 percent of expert designers picked quartz as the top countertop material for baths. Why is that?
First off, compared to other materials, quartz is the most resistant when it comes to scratching. Also, since quartz is non-porous, it’s less likely that it will hold bacteria.
