Kitchen Remodeling

This couples loves to entertain, has a lot of friends and family, and dreamed of creating a space that would be comfortable for all of their loved ones to gather. Their existing space felt cramped and awkwardly laid out with a small kitchen, two large living rooms, and two small dining rooms.

Heather and Frank are both busy professionals in the medical field and were eager to get this project put together quickly and correctly, not just so it didn’t interfere with their demanding work schedules, but also because Heather was well into her first pregnancy.

One fun aspect of the project was the wine area.They needed an organized an easily accessible place to store their expansive wine collection, they were thinking of a little bar cabinet area and a minifridge, but we took this plan a step further by setting them up with a specialized room temperature wine storage pullout built within a cabinet adjacent to the wine fridge.

As the project plan developed, Heather and Frank realized that the new formal dining room was going to be an important focal point of the space, visually anchoring one entire side of the home, so we decided to expand the original scope of the project by reimagining the fireplace feature wall with a mineral wash paint, a leathered granite hearth, and a reclaimed wood mantle salvaged locally from the Mid-Atlantic region. We color matched this to the beams in the space as well as the shelves we selected for the built-in beverage alcove on the opposite side of the same room.

This lovely couple is now raising their newborn in a home with a brand new custom kitchen built to wine and dine their friends and family.
