Basement Remodeling

Abington Rd. | Mt. Laurel, NJ

This once-finished basement required an overhaul due to a mold issue that developed. After we had a mold remediation company work its magic in the space, we moved into demolition (which came with its own set of challenges). Anne van de Rijn and Sue Faramelli, two of our Remodeling Designers partnered up to create the perfect design for them, and Project Manager Nick Zizzamia led the team of carpenters who brought it to life.

The homeowner wanted their basement split into four unique spaces to accommodate their lifestyle – a bar space for entertaining, a storage area for their wine collection, a living space, and a gym.

Functionality became the name of the game for this design and layout. To make their dreams a reality, we transformed a basic closet into custom shelving for wine bottles with custom glass doors to highlight their collection. We also enclosed part of the space for the gym area so it was separate but still accessible.

Lighting had a significant role in our planning. For example, the wine collection storage required proper lighting of its own.

A special feature in the bar area is the Taj Mahal Quartzite countertop with a leathered finish. It added a certain flare to their entertaining space.

Now they are enjoying their fully custom, fully functional (and mold-free!) new lower level.
